Take off the negative cable and connect the meter in line. There should be a very minimal draw, less that 1 amp. There will be some for the computer memory. If there is mote than that there is a draw on system and this could be the problem. Battery draining then charging to much will kill them. If the voltage is below that rev engine a little
Posted June 19, 2017. My son in law just passed his test and bought a 2005 focus 1.6 zetec. The car looks great with full service history, drives nice and appears well maintained, only it has a starting issue. When it's running, it runs sweet, no loss of power, ticks over nice and quiet. Getting it started is the issue. it's a 2005 1.6 litre petrol. The engine is very tappety on start up and even after a good run it still isn't perfect. When servicing the car i noticed there was a lot of oil in the air box so the engine is obviously pressrising somewhere and blowing oil out the breather pipe. NickBG. Interesting one. After pulling off the drive the other day 'Engine Malfunction' pops up on the Convers+ display. However NO engine management light illuminated. Plugged a code reader in, no codes, went though the secret menu - no codes. Also checked that the engine management light does work.Ford Year: 2007. UK/Ireland Location: Hampshire. Posted May 5, 2015. My focus has started to stutter/misfire when I accelerate it only happens when in a low speed for the gear but normally the engine will handle it not a problem so for example 20mph in 3rd gear should be a problem accelerating up but the engine seems to stutter/misfire untilIpMm.
